⁷ Thereupon Jonathan went to Jerusalem and read the letter to all the people and to those in the citadel. ⁸ They were all greatly frightened when they heard that the king had given him authority to raise an army. ⁹ They released the hostages to Jonathan, and he restored them to their parents.
